NOTES: This coffee is sweet, fruity, and aromatic. The taste reminds us of blueberry waffles.

 

Family owned, Daye Bensa processes and exports coffee from its farm, in the Shantawene Village, as well as from smallholders from three villages: Shantawene, Karamo and Bombe.

Currently they are working toward raising up women farmers and partnering with Hawassa University to help students perform research to improve coffee quality.

Ethiopia has strict guidelines when it comes to production and exportation creating barriers for many coffee farmers and producers. With water being a scarce resource in the region, the limited number of washing stations make it difficult for farmers to produce coffee on their own. We chose this coffee because of Daye Bensa’s commitment to community action, and sustaining equitable trade.
